The Texas Education Freedom Accounts (TEFA) program is a new state initiative that provides families with state-funded accounts to customize their child’s education.
Who is it for? The program is open to Texas students, with high priority given to students with documented disabilities or special education needs.
How much funding is available? Students with a documented disability may qualify for up to $30,000 annually to cover essential services like speech therapy.
What can the funds be used for? Beyond private school tuition, TEFA funds cover educational therapies, including pediatric speech and language services.
Application Period: The application window for the 2026–27 school year is open until 11:59 p.m. Central Time on March 31, 2026. This is a lottery-based system, not first-come, first-served.

We recommend an initial consultation so you can see our facilities and meet our staff. This complimentary screener requires no charge or commitment.
After consultation and if families decide to move forward with services from our clinic we will schedule for evaluation or therapy sessions to commence. After that, families can authorize payment through your Odyssey account—no out-of-pocket reimbursement forms required.
Yes. TEFA funds are explicitly approved for "educational therapies or services" provided by licensed practitioners like ours.
Yes. Diagnostic evaluations are a qualified educational expense and are the first step in creating a therapy plan for your child.
While an IEP helps secure the higher funding tier ($30,000), we can work with families in the $10,500 (Private School) or $2,000 (Homeschool) tiers as well.
As a specialized, small clinic, we take pride in providing highly personalized, one-on-one care. Because of this approach, our current availability is limited. If we cannot see your child immediately, we maintain a waitlist and contact families as soon as a slot opens. As our center continues to grow, we look forward to opening more slots to serve more Boerne and San Antonio families!
At this time, Speech Pathways Therapy Center exclusively specializes in Speech and Language Therapy. By focusing solely on communication, we ensure our expertise and resources are entirely dedicated to helping your child find their voice.
Since we are an approved provider, you simply log into your Odyssey portal and select "Speech Pathways Therapy Center" to release the funds for your billed sessions.
